August 20, 2006 back to an autobiography
Back in 2004, I bought and started to read Bill Clinton's autobiography, My Life. I got busy with moving and starting school again, so I never finished it. Only read 85 of 950+ pages before I got distract and it got put on a shelf. Even though it is large and heavy, I am going to start reading this book again as my BART/lunch book.

Maybe I can get it finished this week and have another one knocked off my list. I know that I am really far behind the curve as far as 50-in-365 goes (I should be at book #32 instead of #17), but this book as been on my TBR list for 2 years and this is the year I finish it.

August 17, 2006 Bombshell by Lynda Curnyn
324 pages. Finished 08/17/06.

I had previously read a short story by this author that I really enjoyed. I have had this book on my shelf for a couple years. I was looking forward to reading this book, however, I was quite disappointed.

The book went on for over 300 pages and nothing happened. There was a plotline about the main character's adoption, but it wasn't really about that. There was a plotline about Grace's job, but it wasn't really about that. Grace met a great guy, who was a little bit skittish (about halfway through), but it wasn't really about that either. It wasn't really about anything.

I hate to leave books unfinished and I found myself rushing through this, just to be done with it. Definitely not a fan of Ms. Curnyn after all.

August 11, 2006 Girls Night In - short stories by various chick lit authors
325 pages. Finished 08/11/06.

It took me a couple days of commuting to finish the collection of short stories. I like some that I thought I would hate (authors I don't particularly care for) and found myself unimpressed by stories written by authors whose other work I have loved. It was an okay collection of short stories - some were incredibly strange (like an alien helping a woman with a stupid boyfriend find confidence in herself while remaining invisible - I'm not kidding), but it made a good train book nonetheless.
