February 08, 2007 The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella
Staying up until after 1am to finish this book when I've been sick probably wasn't the smartest idea I've ever had, but I couldn't help it. My horribly sore throat and lack of voice is almost worth it. I just couldn't put it down.
I think the dust jacket gives a bit too much away about what's going to happen, but I was intrigued from the get-go. There were classic fish-out-of-water antics, a romance that was well-developed with a believable conflict and a couple of mysteries with less than predictable twists. Samantha's transformation wasn't too fast or perfect and I love that she never gave up on restoring her name. I got a little tired of her being wishy-washy about the offer made to her, but I'm glad she made the right decision in the end.
I was a bit disappointed that they didn't wrap up the mystery about her employers, but I suppose you can't have everything. I'm totally digging Sophie Kinsella's books. I'm going to have to jump back into the Shopaholic series too.
