I spent the first 200 pages of this book, simply hating the main character. You figure that she would come off bad in the first book since she was engaged to the guy the main character from that book was in love with. But Darcy is SO self-unaware for most of this book that it's laughable and rather painful. I found myself hoping that we'd get an update on Rachel and Dex instead of more blithering about how Darcy had been wronged and how she's better than everyone else.
The last third of the book is actually enjoyable, if predictable. Some things seem to happen a little too easily, but it's a book, so I'll forgive. I've got two more by this author on deck and I'm looking forward to them.
November 19, 2009Six Weeks To Go I was on a roll for most of this year. Taking my lunch hour at work and reading was a great way to blow through a ton of books in a short period of time. However, this fall, I've been going home for lunch (which gives me about 20 minutes to eat and watch TV) instead, so I haven't been reading. But with six weeks left and only 7 books until I reach my goal, it's time for me to buckle down and get back to the challenge. I've never been this close to finishing and I don't want to miss the challenge again!
